The Running Stitch is probably the easiest and simplest sewing stitch there is so it’s great for a first timer or for someone who wants to sew in a hurry.
It’s not a particularly secure stitch so it’s not a good choice for anything hard wearing – like fixing clothes.

- Don’t use too long a length of cotton. Instead of saving you time from re-threading and sewing on and off etc, you’ll find it will become knotted very easily and you will have to keep starting over and correcting mistakes.
